Margin
Borrowing money from a broker to buy securities, using the account's assets as collateral.
Margin amplifies both gains and losses. If the value of the collateral falls too far, the broker issues a 'margin call' demanding more cash or the sale of positions. Margin interest rates are a real cost worth comparing across brokers.
