Play chess against a smart computer opponent — free, no account needed.
Tap or click one of your pieces, then tap a highlighted square to move there. Dots mark quiet moves; rings mark captures. Your last move and any king in check are highlighted on the board. When a pawn reaches the last rank, a dialog asks which piece to promote to.
Focus the board with Tab, then use the arrow keys to move the square cursor. Press Enter or Space to pick up a piece or drop it on a target square, and Escape to cancel a selection.
Easy plays quickly and makes occasional slips — good for learning. Medium plays a solid club-level game. Hard searches deeper and punishes mistakes, so it may think for a moment on complex positions. Stuck? Press Hint to see a suggested move, or Undo to take back your last move. Changes to difficulty or side apply from the next new game.
The full rules of chess are enforced: castling, en passant, pawn promotion, check and checkmate, stalemate, the fifty-move rule, threefold repetition, and draws by insufficient material.
Everything runs in your browser — no account, no sign-up, and no data leaves your device. Your record and settings are stored locally on this device only. After your first visit, the game also works offline.
